FREE Domestic Flights in Japan with Japan Airlines

To the Point

If you’ve been dreaming of visiting Japan and want to explore more of the country beyond its main cities, Japan Airlines (JAL) has an exciting offer for you. JAL is now giving international travelers a free domestic flight within Japan when they book an international flight. This is your chance to visit not only Tokyo but also amazing places like Osaka, Kyoto, or Sapporo without paying for an extra flight!

Here’s how it works and how you can take advantage of this awesome deal.

What’s the Deal?

Japan Airlines is offering a free domestic flight if you book an international flight to Japan. Normally, you’d have to pay for an extra domestic flight on top of your international ticket. But with this offer, you can fly to your international destination in Japan and add an extra flight within Japan at no additional cost.

For example, let’s say you’re flying from San Francisco (SFO) to Tokyo (NRT). You can add that extra flight for free if you want to visit another city like Osaka (KIX). But there’s a catch—you must book the domestic flight simultaneously with your international flight. If you don’t, you won’t get the free flight.

How Does It Work?

It’s pretty simple to take advantage of this deal. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Book an international flight with Japan Airlines from an eligible country (we’ll cover those in a minute).

  2. Add a domestic flight to your booking. This flight must be booked at the same time as your international flight. You can connect to your domestic destination immediately (within 24 hours), or spend some time in the city you land in before flying to your next stop.

  3. Enjoy the free flight! Whether you fly right after you arrive or take some time to explore Tokyo or Osaka first, the domestic flight will cost you nothing.

Eligible Countries for Free Domestic Flights

This offer is currently available for travelers flying to Japan from the following countries:

  • United States

  • Canada

  • Mexico

  • Thailand

  • Singapore

But wait, there’s more! Starting on September 19, travelers from Australia and New Zealand will also be eligible.

The offer will then extend to travelers from Vietnam and the Philippines on September 25.

Finally, on September 27, the promotion will include those traveling from Indonesia, India, China, and Taiwan.

Unfortunately, this offer isn’t available for everyone just yet, but the list of eligible countries may continue to expand.

Important Things to Know

Before you get too excited and start packing your bags, there are a few rules and details to keep in mind:

  • Book the flights together: You must book your domestic flight at the same time as your international flight. If you try to book them separately, you won’t qualify for the free flight.

  • Stopover fee: If you’re traveling from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, or China and spend more than 24 hours in your arrival city, you might have to pay a stopover fee of $100 (or ¥300). This fee only applies to certain countries, so double-check your booking details.

  • No end date: JAL hasn’t announced an official end date for this offer, so it could be around for a while—or disappear quickly. If you’re planning a trip to Japan, it’s a good idea to jump on this offer as soon as possible.

Why You Should Care

This promotion is a great way to explore more of Japan without paying for multiple flights. Many travelers visit Tokyo or Osaka, but Japan has so much more to offer. From the snow-capped mountains of Hokkaido to the beautiful beaches of Okinawa, there’s something for everyone.

By taking advantage of JAL’s offer, you can visit multiple cities for the price of one international ticket. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or returning to explore more of Japan, this deal is a no-brainer!

Final Thoughts

Japan Airlines is making it easier than ever to explore Japan. With this free domestic flight offer, you can visit more cities, save money, and get the most out of your trip to Japan. Just remember to book your domestic flight when you book your international ticket, and make sure your country is eligible for the promotion.
