When Will the New American Airlines Flagship Lounge in Dallas Open?

American Airlines Flaghsip Lounge at LAX

To The Point

The Flagship Lounge by American Airlines is a premium lounge experience, which has been missing from American’s flagship hub of Dallas for quite some time.  This lack of a premium lounge has added pressure to the newly expanded American Express Centurion lounge, as it’s the only comparable lounge currently open in Dallas. While it was expected that the Dallas Flagship Lounge would open sometime in 2018, rumor has it that things are shaping up for it to open mid-May 2019.

Access to the Flagship Lounge

Access can’t be purchased, and you must be flying in international first or business class. Another way to obtain access is to have elite status with American Airlines as Concierge Key, Executive Platinum, or OneWorld Emerald member. If you have any of those levels of status and are traveling internationally, the class that you’re flying in doesn’t matter. Note: if your travel is within the US, Hawaii, or the Caribbean, you won’t be able to access the Flagship Lounge.

Current Locations

  • New York - JFK American Airlines Flagship Lounge: Opened May 2017

  • Chicago - ORD American Airlines Flagship Lounge: Opened September 2017

  • Los Angeles - LAX American Airlines Flagship Lounge: Opened December 2017

  • Miami - MIA American Airlines Flagship Lounge: Opened November 2017

Future Locations

  • Dallas - DFW American Airlines Flagship Lounge: Rumored Opening May 2019

  • Phoenix - PHX American Airlines Flagship Lounge: Target Opening 2019

  • London - LHR American Airlines Flagship Lounge: Target Opening 2019

Final Point

If you’re fortunate enough to be flying in international business or first class, you’ll be missing out if you don’t experience the Flagship Lounge. When American first introduced them in 2017, United only had one Polaris lounge open. American Airlines continues to have the lead when it comes to a domestic carrier’s premium lounge experience. If you’re flying Flagship First, you are really in for a treat with the exclusive Flagship Dining experience. Overall, we’re excited for the  opening of the Flagship Lounge in Dallas in 2019.
