American Express Green Card: Coming this Fall
American Express has finally announced that the highly anticipated American Express Green card is supposedly coming this Fall. Many American Express and credit card fanatics anticipated the Green Card to be released early October since the Gold Card's revamp released in early October 2018. Unfortunately, it's mid-October and all we have is a few extra pieces to the Green Card puzzle. American Express released that the Green Card will be made of 70% reclaimed plastic from beaches and coastal communities. American Express is clearly responding to the ever rising concerns about the environment and working with Parley for the Oceans, a nonprofit that addresses major threats toward our oceans and planet. With the Green Card, American Express introduced the companies' first "Card Recycling Program" which will allow Card Members to send back their expired or inoperable cards to be properly recycled. We think this is pretty neat!
Away Luggage - $100 Credit
In May 2019, the American Express subreddit provided us a leak that the Green Card may have some connection to a luggage or bag company. If you haven't already, you can check out that article here. Many people suspected that the luggage company affiliated with the American Express Green Card would be the popular hard case luggage brand Away. We totally agreed with the Away theory and based on the newest leak from reddit user Regancia, our Away speculation may have been correct! It appears this reddit user found this offer for the new Green Card on the American Express website that he forgot to refresh for some time. When he clicked on it, the offer banner disappeared, but not before capturing a screenshot. Thanks Regancia! Based on the screenshot, it appears that American Express will be giving a $100 statement credit on Away Purchases within the first three months. This banner leak raises many questions such as: Is this the actual sign up bonus? Is this Away partnership just an extra bonus similar to the WeWork partnership with the American Express Platinum Business Card? Will there still be a Membership Reward sign up bonus? First Peak at the Green Card
Until this next reddit post was published, we had not seen a physical photograph of the new Green Card design. Redditor BetoDays had accidentally damaged his old American Express Corporate Green Card and requested a new one. To his surprise, he received a totally revamped Green Card that he described as "super thin". According to BetoDays, it was so thin, he didn't think anything was actually in the envelope. We noticed that the white boarder was gone, the entire card was the same green color, and there was a touchless payment symbol. Also, according to BetoDays, the reverse side of the Green Card says "reclaimed" indicating that this was indeed one of the new Green Card's made of 70% reclaimed plastics from our oceans. Redditor Alschultzlwss described the new Green Card as "literally garbage", and he's not wrong since it is primarily made of reclaimed plastics!

Final Point
With all these leaks and rumors, we still have no idea what the rewards categories or perks of this newly revamped American Express Green Card will be. In March 2019 we published our original American Express Green Card Rumor Article because rumors were “floating” around the internet about reward categories such as 4x Membership Rewards on gas purchases and Amazon Prime Membership included in the Annual Fee.
